new beginnings, dreams in my way

My first new edition to my etsy account! I'm going to start posting when I have a bunch of products together in middle August so my income while I'm at school can be from the work I've done this summer before my work-study starts up. This onesie is a cotton-polyester blend with a handstitched sunflower of corduroy and cotton and is for the 6-9 month age range. I have to wait for my partner, Catherine Morel, to get back from Michigan to go much further on details, because she has some Modge-Podge of mine.

Nonetheless, I'm happy to be able to work again, use my non-swollen hands, and do what I want to do instead of working my part time job.

one traffic light town

Two lovers lay
beneath a sheath of blue
in that one traffic light town.
Nostalgic recreations
once removed now
brought to light-
Will time continue to stand still
while we
reminisce?

little favorites

I randomly got an urge to look through all my friend's artwork and just realized how surrounded I am by talent. I saved my favorites and wanted to post them here. From top to bottom the artists are: Alex Swanson, Juliet Renault, Sarah Stern, and Mulligan Greenwell. My top for favorites were also women- something that surprised me since the art scene seems so male dominant.

twins

The top photo is of my newer journal that i've become very attached to. Most of the artwork I've been doing this summer is journaling and sketching. But I am working on a new piece inspired by the bottom photo of my mom (on the left) and her twin. It's a portrait of the two of them in central Kansas, very simple. I also slightly based it off of a family story when my mom's dad was out on the farm with his brother when his brother was decapitated by a windmill. Brutal. The main point of the piece is that if feels like an 'ode to Kansas' for me before I leave.

chorale

Here's a song from KMEA this last march. A little over a minute into it is my solo. Again the video is not that great, just put together really fast.
